Architectural birdcage with its little door open and autumn flowers spilling out

NEWLY ARRIVED · ROOM TO BLOOM

An architectural birdcage, its little door open to the last flowers of the season. A reminder that a familiar object can hold an entirely new possibility.

Zebra-hide bench beneath an ink figure drawing, with a cast figural ash tray of a gentleman clinging to a lamppost
A Moment in the House

An old bench. A drawing by Mom overhead. And a cast ash tray that somehow became part of the furniture.

Worth Noticing

The breath in hand-blown glass

Hold old glass to the light and the surface begins to move. Color shifts. Ridges catch differently. Tiny irregularities and subtle distortions remind you that the material was shaped by heat, pressure, and human hands.

What looks imperfect at first is often what makes the piece feel alive.

We teach not to demonstrate how much we know, but to give someone another reason to appreciate what they're looking at.

The Curious Cabinet

“What is that?”

Objects with no interest in disappearing quietly into a room. Strange, specific, occasionally useful, and impossible to forget.

Our House Rules
Frog and lily pad garden sundial
From the Keeper’s Journal

On a frog who tells the time

He arrived already carrying the weather with him — softened edges, darkened metal, and the sort of surface only time outdoors can make.

The gnomon still casts its shadow, though accuracy was never really his strongest quality. Somehow that feels right for a frog.

Some objects earn another life simply by making us smile when we notice them.
